Holiday Hosting

A few weeks ago I collaborated with White Glove Rentals to style their holiday showrooms. White Glove is a family owned event rental business serving Mid-Atlantic coast states. Lisa and Tim welcomed me with open arms. The husband and wife duo were absolutely wonderful and you cold tell immediately they take great pride in their clients and business. Touring their facility I was like a kid in a candy store, walking up and down the aisles in awe of their beautiful furniture and event decor. My mind was spinning on overload with SO many ideas!! The front room is the room where everyone enters and exits, I went for a very cozy winter wonderland vibe, focusing on hues in a winter blue. The other showroom was quite large and I staged a variety of hosting areas throughout the space.  With the showroom being so large and all of the staged ares visible, I chose to have a rustic aesthetic with a light sage pop color throughout the entire space. I love red, especially for the holidays, but red is so expected so I thought I would change it up and use an unexpected green as the constant color in the second showroom. I also wanted the decor to inspire versatility. These staged areas are perfect for any holiday party whether it be for your family and friends or co-workers and business partners.

After touring WG, I went to their website to peruse their rental inventory further and build my style boards. I started with the smaller showroom first and fell in love with their Carrye Arch  sofa. I knew it might be difficult to design around this piece but I’m always up for a challenge! The Carrye sofa would be the center of my design style for this space. I quickly added the Birch coffee table and Smoke side tables to acompany the couch. My goal was for the room to feel crisp winter coupled with a cozy lodge style.  The vintage children’s books and hollywood camera added a touch of history and nostalgia to the space. The white buck mount above the vintage black mantel was the focal point of the room.  Pine cones, flanked magnolia leaves, large holiday ornaments, a Christmas tree, and reconfigured birch arch brought to life the cozy lodge style.  The light pink hand-knotted wool rug added a hint a color to the beautiful tile floors.  For additional seating I chose the white fur poufs. Serve a couple of yummy cocktails in the dusky blue glassware and your guests will be cozy and comfy while they enjoy each other;s company!

For the second studio I styled two sitting spaces, a bar, and a larger farm table dining area.  It would have been easy to set a single farm table for eight but most of our extended families are larger than that so I set the table for sixteen! Combining two Chestnut Trestle tables, four Lucy benches and two Cira chairs the table was set for sixteen. For the tablescape I kept each setting clean and simple, popping greens and golds throughout the table. I layered with gold scalloped chargers with Anna- Bianca plate setting, used the Herward Baroque flatware, Adrina red wine glasses, mixed green glassware and crystal candle holders sprinkled on the tabletop. I love how this table turned out with the green and gold accents, fresh cut greenery and cinnamon stick with holy leaf table garnish.

For before and after dinner gathering I styled a small sitting area across from the master dining table. Continuing the rustic style I stacked the wood & wire crates upside down as end tables flanking the Kelly linen settee couch. Finishing off the seating area I styled two Kelly linen club chairs, Beni coffee table, Ellis copper lanterns, camel cowhide and Charleston brass tray. Adding a few holiday touches from the dining table, I lined the Ellis lanterns with magnolia leaves and intertwined holly throughout the Charleston tray.

The next sitting area was a bit more refined rustic… along the lines of an intimate study or cigar lounge. I styled this space with the Ricardo Hood chairs, green jute rug, ophelia brass coffee table, gold leaning mirror and grayson lantern set.

MAUVE MAXI

These days I’m finding I have less time to get ready in the morning than I’ve had just a few weeks ago. It might have something to do with the fact that it’s still dark at 7:00AM and I tend to sleep a little longer, or that I am just exhausted . Either way, I’m a […]

Reflecting on 7 Months of Parenthood

After seven months of motherhood, I wonder… Am I a different person? Have I changed so much that I almost don’t recognize myself or is it just that my priorities are different???  Don’t get me wrong this isn’t a bad thing… more of a realization moment. I am NOTHING like I thought I would be as […]

The other weekend I had the opportunity to takeover The Baltimore Baton. Four Month Family Photos

WOOHOO!!!! Four Months!!!! We have successfully survived four months of parenthood! And trust me, some days “survive” is exactly what we barely did!! Each road to parenthood, each pregnancy and each baby are unique for every family. I’m pretty sure no two journeys to becoming parents are alike. During our journey I realized that it […]

2 Month Family Photos

Huge thank you goes to my Mom for getting behind the camera to snap our family photos.  These pictures doubled as our Easter photos and Kade’s two month pictures. We chose the historic Jerusalem Mill for our location and four backdrops on site. At two months old Kade’s attention span is basically non existent and […]
