WHAT TO WEAR TO THE RACES

Horse Race Fashion is one of the most distinctive displays of truly unique style. The entire event is as if you are on a constant red carpet. Everywhere you look you will see dapper dressed men and ladies adorned with beautiful dresses and show-stopping headwear. Therefore horse race patrons alike are always wondering “What to Wear to a Horse Race”. Whether you are attending a horse race for the first time or a seasoned attendee it is all about your Horse Race Fashion and head piece!

Under normal circumstances Men and Women would have been spending the last few weeks preparing their race day look for the Derby. Traditionally the Kentucky Derby & Oaks take place the first weekend of May. However, during this unprecedented time the Kentucky Derby & Oaks have been rescheduled for September 4th and 5th of 2020.

TRIPLE CROWN

Each horse race in the triple crown hosts races on Friday and Saturday. The Kentucky Oaks runs on Friday and is known as Ladies Day. Friday races are typically Ladies Day Out because this is the day the fillies race. Therefore the Derby is held on Saturday which is the first leg in the Triple Crown. Followed by the Preakness in Maryland and the Belmont in New York. Each day is equally full of fashion. Friday’s outfit selections tend to be bright, bold, playful and full of color. While Saturday’s looks are a mixture of “go big or go home” headwear coupled with elegant attire.

In honor of what was supposed to be the Derby weekend I have styled six compliment worthy looks to share with you! I was planning on 2020 being the year I attended all three races in the Triple Crown… 2021 seems more likely. Here’s to hoping the Fall Derby will still take place and the other races too! Side Note: I wasn’t able to link the exact first dress but you can shop it here. Let me know which looks you love and if you can guess which one I was planning to wear!
