Celebrating Nine Months in Raleigh

In honor of Kade’s ten month birthday earlier this week I am finally sharing our family photos from last month. November was a bit more hectic than usual… if you can believe that! We had plans every weekend and weren’t able to capture our family photos in time for his actual nine months which was the eighteenth but we did squeeze it in over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. We teamed up with Jeremy from Groves and Groves Photography and met at Beaver Dam Lake just outside of Raleigh. The leaves were rich in fall hues and the entire lake area was absolutely gorgeous. Kade really enjoyed playing in the woods, he is full of curiosity and loves to put everything in his mouth.  He has really been vocal lately about what he likes and dislikes which has helped us figure out some of his favorite things!

1_ Favorite Toy: Vtech Sit to Stand Walker
2_ Favorite Food: Milk and Apple Sauce
3_ Favorite Shoes: Freshly Picked Moccasins
4_ Favorite Hat: Dino Hat & Gloves
5_ Favorite Color: Buffalo Plaid… so Red and Black
6_ Favorite TV Show: Blaze and the Monster Trucks
7_ Favorite Football Team: Oakland Raiders
8_ Favorite Thing to Do with Daddy: Playing Super Kade {being tossed in the air}
9_ Favorite thing to do with Mommy: cuddle and bite my nose {that’s his was of kissing}
Funny story was that I actually pulled this shoot together pretty last minute. In order to create our family style I went out shopping Monday evening the week of Thanksgiving for Kade and then order a few things for myself. I had to have the items shipped to my in-laws since we would be there for the weekend.  When the items arrived they were not exactly what I was hoping for, soooo I had to run out the morning of Black Friday to find an outfit for our family pictures. Thankfully the mall wasn’t terrible but it certainly wasn’t ideal.  I did, however, score heavily discounted deals since it happened to be the most well known shopping day of the year!  Our style was casual which was perfect for the picturesque fall scene at the lake.  We enjoyed the time as a little family of three, exploring, playing in the leaves and walking around the lake. These photos captured that perfectly… for warning there is a lot but they are way too cute not to share!

Buffalo Plaid Dresses

A little sneak peak from our family Christmas photos.  No surprise here I styled us in complimenting buffalo plaid pieces.  I’ll be following up with a holiday post soon but in the meantime I wanted to share a variety of buffalo plaid dresses for this holiday/winter season.  You will see a variety of styles that are […]

Holiday Hosting

A few weeks ago I collaborated with White Glove Rentals to style their holiday showrooms. White Glove is a family owned event rental business serving Mid-Atlantic coast states. Lisa and Tim welcomed me with open arms. The husband and wife duo were absolutely wonderful and you cold tell immediately they take great pride in their clients […]

One Pom Or Two

This week I am visiting Lake Louise for the Audi FIS Ski World Cup competition. And it seemed only fitting I share my love for beanies since I am living in them all day up here! Besides keeping your head and ears warm beanies are great to hide those “I just rolled out of bed” […]

The holiday shopping landscape has certainly changed over the past few years. When I think back to my childhood, Black Friday was known as the biggest shopping day of the year. It traditionally meant retail stores would open at 5am and offer steep door-buster discounts throughout the day.  A few years later, the e-commerce domination created […]

K.S. California-13

These days I’m finding I have less time to get ready in the morning than I’ve had just a few weeks ago. It might have something to do with the fact that it’s still dark at 7:00AM and I tend to sleep a little longer, or that I am just exhausted . Either way, I’m a […]

Let’s Trench About It

Jackets are often an underrated essential piece of ones wardrobe. When you think about it, depending on where you live, you might wear a jacket every day for months in a row… that could be like 60+ days wearing some sort of coat or jacket over your clothing. Shocker, like everything else, I of course […]

After eight months of parenthood I have to admit, this age right now has been a bit crazy, but the most fun! Kade has us constantly laughing and smiling. Watching him experience the world is quite possibly the coolest thing I have or will ever experience.  If I had to describe Kade in three words […]

Mondays often get a bad rap… and this Monday in particular I am reminded to be optimistic, motivated and grateful!  Today I am smiling for one reason and one alone… simply because I can. I strive to always be thankful for my blessings, be appreciative of life and those in my life and to take nothing […]
