Teeth whitening is so much easier than I thought it would be!
Christie Brinkley said to “Share your smile with the world. It’s a symbol of friendship and peace.” When I started Shoptini 3 years ago, it was really to share my love for fashion and style with my friends, family, and all of you. But I never really gave much thought to my smile. I always thought it was just part of taking the pictures. But as the years went by and I started to notice the smiles of other fashionistas I followed, I realized that a genuine smile can really brighten the whole mood of a picture. Sure facial expression conveys emotion in general, but a good smile can affect not only the mood of the picture, but also the mood of those who SEE the picture! Simply put, smiles are infectious!
As you all know, my blog is about the pictures. I love sharing my ideas and thoughts on fashion, as well as my love for my family, the outdoors, and life in general, but sharing the photos with you is my true love! So as you can imagine, I am constantly smiling for pictures. And there are a TON of pictures! You only see the best of the bunch, but for each blog post that I share roughly 20 pictures with you, there are hundreds that were taken in any particular shoot. So my smile gets some serious work!
Occasionally I get comments that my smile has brightened someone’s day just from seeing one of my photos. As small as that seems, it makes me so happy knowing that I’ve affected someone else in a happy way! These comments also made me realize that I need to make sure my smile stays bright and pretty. I realized that you probably notice my smile before they notice the clothes that I’m wearing.
Like I said before, I never really gave much thought to my smile. I mean, naturally I am a smiley person and, thanks to my parents, I was blessed with straight teeth. I have always taken care of them as a matter of routine. My dental routine is to brush twice a day and floss. I don’t drink coffee or soda, and I definitely don’t smoke! But as I’ve gotten older, and as I’ve started to notice my smile more, I realized that my teeth may not be quite as bright as they used to be. I’ve also noticed that Spencer’s teeth have never really been super white. He takes good care of them. He doesn’t smoke, but he does drink coffee (he started when Kade was born) and the occasional soda.
We were talking about it one night and decided to see what options were available for teeth whitening. We use a “whitening” toothpaste, but it doesn’t seem to do anything different than a regular toothpaste. Spencer gave the teeth whitening strips a try once, but said they were a pain to use and didn’t really give any noticeable results. We asked our dentist and quickly decided against professional treatment when he told us it would be over $400 for each of us!
And then we found Smile Brilliant! Well, they found me…and the timing was perfect! It’s a professional- level whitening system that you do yourself. I read a lot about it and there were so many good reviews and success stories that we decided to give it a try. And I’m so glad we did!
It’s actually a really simple process and it takes just a few hours a week. The best part is, it won’t interfere with your day. You can do it while you go about your normal routine! This was huge for us because neither I nor the hubs really has time to add another tedious chore to the day.
I like to do my whitening while I’m getting ready in the morning or even during the workday. I can start when I get up, right before I hop in the shower. And by the time I’m ready to leave for the day, I’m all done! Spencer likes to do his in the evening after dinner and finishes up before bed. You can work it in to your day whenever is best for you!
So here’s a rundown of the process…its so easy!
The Molds – The first step is taking impressions of your teeth so Smile Brilliant can create your customized whitening trays. They provide you with the mold putty and detailed instructions on how to do it. Once you’ve created your molds, you send them off and wait for your trays to come back.
Whitening – The kit includes a 2-step process. The first step is the whitening, and the second is the desensitizing. Each step has its own color coordinated gel in a syringe. For step one you simply apply the whitening gel to each of your trays and place them on your teeth. You can barely tell they are even there! Wear them for 45 minutes up to 3 hours while you get ready, read, work, or whatever you need to do. It’s so easy!
Desensitizing – If you have sensitive teeth, the second step after the whitening process is to repeat the same steps with the desensitizing gel. But this time you only need to leave it in for about 20 minutes. And then you’re done!
It really is that simple and the results speak for themselves. We are so happy we did this! Spencer’s really improving and he is continuing with the system (he says that now every time he smiles his teeth flash and he hears a bell “ting” like in the cartoons) and my smile is brighter than it’s been in years!
And because we loved our experience so much, I have partnered with Smile Brilliant to give away one of their T3 Sensitive System Whitening Kits, the same one we used. That’s a $149 value!
