Sunset Family Gender Reveal

By now you probably know WE ARE PREGNANT with Baby #2! And if not…surprise! We’re expecting our newest family member in late September 2022. When we were pregnant with Kade we did a little gender reveal with just the two of us. My mom made us a small cake and when we cut into it we saw BLUE! Fast forward six years later and here we were planning how to find out if our second little one is a boy or girl.

OUR GENDER REVEAL PLAN

Since we have Kade and he is super excited about being a big brother we opted for a little extra fun this time around. I enlisted my mom’s help again for being the gender secret keeper and planned a sunset family gender reveal. We picked a bunch of gender reveal items and then my mom ordered and shipped the appropriate color to us. Knowing our gender reveal would be outside we made sure to select environment friendly products so we did not disrupt the nature around us.

Thankfully we learned a thing or two about gender reveal items last year when we got our pup Ruko Blu. To celebrate his arrival into our family we ordered a few blue smoke cannons for a fun announcement. Upon popping the smoke cannons the wind picked up and we missed the entire blue smoke. So I had to order the items again and redo the announcement. Which wasn’t a big deal since we were capturing the moment ourselves and it was just for fun.

This time however we had been planning ahead of time and worked with Kailah from KP Adventure and Photo to help us capture the magic of our sunset family gender reveal. To ensure we didn’t have any issues missing the moments we ordered everything! The smoke cannons, confetti cannons, and smoke bombs. In addition we wanted Kade to be able to participate and shoot a few off too! And of course we knew he would want to do it more than once!

The reviews said the confetti cannons were the best for younger children however we found those to be the hardest to set off. Thankfully we had a bunch of options to set off multiple times!

IT’S A GIRL!!!

Our initial pop!!! IT’S A GIRL! Honestly we have been over the moon excited either way boy or girl but when we first saw pink it took my breath away! Kade was really hoping for a baby sister and I too was thinking baby was a girl! We had a few happy tears, lots of jumping and excitement. However, my Mom mode kicked into gear quickly when I realized Kade’s confetti cannon didn’t go off. I quickly dropped down to him and started chatting with him to keep him excited and then we all got down to shoot of his confetti cannon together. Which actually turned out to be some of my favorite pictures captured that night!

GENDER REVEAL CONFETTI CANNONS

Prior to our gender reveal I created a mood board for Kaliah and I to use for photo inspiration. A few of them used smoke bombs and looked really beautiful in pictures so of course I ordered those too! I was a little sceptical as to how much smoke would actually come out but to my surprise they were really powerful. My plan for us was to hold them but after reading the warnings I decided to have them in glass jars behind us. The smoke is beautiful for photos but definitely smoked us out pretty quick and didn’t have the best smell. Kade took off running away from the smoke quickly while Spencer and I stayed for as long as we could.

GENDER REVEAL SMOKE BOMBS

Right now we feeling immensely grateful and blessed! We are all just soaking up the joy and excitement for Kade’s sister and our sweet baby girl! Up next we have a lot of exciting things going on… we will be spending the summer in Glacier National Park and my parents will be joining us. We will start planning for little ladies arrival and researching the items we need for traveling the country with an infant! We also be researching and selecting a homeschool program for Kade as he will be in kindergarten. And of course planning an epic maternity shoot in the mountains of Montana!

Thank you for all the kind wishes and prayers! This is an exciting time for us and I’m happy we are able to share it with you! Get ready for style posts to return plus a ridiculous amount baby content pre and post baby’s arrival.
