Non Traditional Baby Sprinkle

Baby Sprinkle

To have or not to have a baby sprinkle was the question. While I love spoiling others I don’t typically prefer events where the sole focus is on me. But I always enjoy a good party! And after long consideration I finally agreed to a non-traditional baby sprinkle shower.

A few reasons that had me saying yes were that my friends agreed to let me plan it at one of my favorite bars. I mean hey, just because I can’t drink doesn’t mean they shouldn’t. Also friends! Due to us living on the road and traveling mostly on the west coast I haven’t seen my friends in months. Plus we had our son 5.5 years ago so all of our baby items are gone and we’re having a girl!

Also yes, yes I planned my own sprinkle lol. Planning events brings me joy, I have several relationships with many small businesses that I wanted to include and I have slight control issues. Cue my husband raising an eyebrow to the word “slight”.

LOCATION

Since we were back in my home town I knew I wanted to have it at MaGerk’s Pub. They have a lovely outdoor patio with built in bar, the best crab dip in town, amazing buffalo chicken eggrolls and fresh Deep Eddy (my favorite vodka) orange crushes.

Since I was going for a non traditional baby sprinkle shower we had it on a Tuesday night. I kept the guest list small because I wanted to visit and have time for conversations with everyone especially since I haven’t seen them in awhile. We had Deep Eddy cocktails, my favorite MaGerks Pub appetizers and a donut wall from Hazelwood Rentals. The donuts came from our local grocery store Shoprite. They were so great to custom icing the donuts per my request and they were a much cheaper option than gourmet donut shops.

BABYLIST

When it came to our registry I used Babylist. I used that when we had Kade too, it’s super user friendly and allows you to add products from any website by simply copying the url. I’ll share our must have baby items in another post. But let’s just say I was very selective in adding only things we needed or would use. Remember we live in an RV and still have no idea how it will all work out in there yet.

While I did most of the planning my mom and girlfriend Jess helped too. Especially leading up to the sprinkle. I had made a baby sign with apparently the wrong due date haha, ordered a few things from Amazon and that was that. A relatively simple but sweet sprinkle for our little lady on the way.

A few other helpful details was to have envelopes ready for guests to self address that way sending thank you cards was just a little bit easier. Another two is to send out your thank you notes before the baby arrives! I chose not to open gifts at the sprinkle but instead at home with my son. It was fun for him and really got him excited that she would be arriving soon opening all the baby items.

As he rapid fire opened the gifts I tried to write the thank you note simultaneously. That didn’t quite work out but I still had them finished and mailed out a few days after the sprinkle. Why so soon you might ask? Because like I mentioned slight control issues and we were heading to our friends home on the Eastern Shore and then a quick Babymoon!
