Arizona Boho Chic Family Photo Shoot

White and Ivory Boho Two-piece Sets

We couldn’t be in Arizona for a month and not team up with Jes from Maewood Photography for a boho chic family photo shoot or two.

When I started thinking about our style concept I knew I wanted something that really stood out as Arizona. To me the most symbolic thing that represents Arizona is cacti. You know the big saguaro kind. Only where we were staying in Camp Verde they didn’t have any of those around. I expressed my vision to Jes and she said she knew of the perfect spot not too far from us in Scottsdale. And boy was she right! We met for a sunset sessions and the magic easily unfolded.

Bringing together our family style was a bit more difficult and easier than I imagined it to be. I knew I wanted our family style to have a bohemian flare but also be casual. I started out with ordering a few new pieces but massive snow storms delayed their arrival. So I ended up pulling from pieces we already had with us.

As Kade gets older he has been a bit more particular about his clothes so I try to balance his desires to make it more enjoyable for all of us. Typically I start with the outfit that I’ll be wearing and then style the boys from there. It just so happened I’ve been sitting a beautiful two piece dress from ixiah. And when I say sitting on it I mean I’ve had it for almost two years and haven’t worn it yet. Ixiah is an Australian brand that I found while visiting on our sabbatical in 2019.

Turns out it was a perfect piece for our boho chic family photo shoot. It was a pleasant mix a femininity with the lace details, sexy with the slide slits and casual with the soft fabric. I added an Orijnal boho hat and cowboy boots and Dean Davidson jewelry. The bonus was that since it was an off-white I had a lot of flexibility to style Spencer and Kade.

For Christmas Kade had received a navy lightweight flannel button up with a subtle moose print which I thought would be cute. I styled it with his new navy crocs and khaki linen shorts. He would have worn pants if they had arrived in time. Unfortunately his recent growth spurt has turned all his previous pants into capris. Truth be told Kade wasn’t loving the outfit I styled for him although it turned out super cute. I felt a little guilty forcing him to wear it but traded the outfit for a dessert after dinner. Lesson learned was to give him options so he feels like he has a choice and control of what he is wearing.

Thankfully Spencer was easy… blue plaid and jeans. He actually wore the same blue plaid shirt for a previous family photo shoot when Kade was a baby. We did a couple cute reenactment pictures to share a few then vs. now social posts.

As we head into spring family photos, outside gatherings, graduations, bridal and baby showers all become more prevalent. To which white/ivory looks are rather common. So this week I used our boho family photo session as inspiration to create several similar looks! Monday andTuesday’s look of the day is the closest to what I actually wore. But I’m totally crushing on Friday’s outfit… oh those pink boots

I’d love to hear from you! Leave me a comment below as to which one is your favorite and where would you wear it!

Till next time I’m wishing you a stylish and happy week!
