Stevens Family Beach Photos

Last week I shared part one of our Stevens Family beach photos with Alyssa Mims Photography and this week I’m sharing part two! Whenever we do family photos I love to incorporate multiple outfit changes. It certainly allows me to be creative with our clothing selections in addition to sharing more family styles with you. It also provides the opportunity to highlight more of our photographers work too.  In the past we’ve tried a handful of outfit changes but I’ve learned two looks are our sweet spot. And whenever possible it’s best if Spencer and Kade only have a shirt swap. Occasionally it’s a full outfit change for them depending on the environment and weather.

For our first Stevens Family beach photos in Myrtle Beach I wanted to capture both land and beach styles. To see our earth tone style and photos be sure to check out my previous blog post. The weather was cooler than we anticipated but lucky for me we had some items that easily layered to style keep our style intact.

FAMILY BEACH STYLE

One thing that’s significantly changed over the past year is that Kade doesn’t just love the outfits I select for him. And occasionally it has caused a melt down or two. So lately I’ve been trying to incorporate less “handsome clothes” and more comfy clothes. Which styled pretty well for our casual beach sunset photos.

More often than not our family style starts with what I’ll be wearing. In this case I had selected the Sophie dress in carolina blue from Madison Mathews. It’s also available in yellow and pink both equally as beautiful but blue fit in with our beach scene and our Adventurtunity Family brand too. One of my top tips for family style is to coordinate colors but not necessarily have all matching outfits. Mixing prints and textures within the same color scheme really brings the photos to life in a cohesive way perfect for framing or featuring throughout your home.

To coordinate with the Madison Mathews Sophie dress I worked with a local Myrtle Beach screen printer to have a shirt made for Kade with our Adventurtunity Family logo in matching carolina blue color. And then Spencer completed our family style with another Adventurtunity Family logo applied to a carolina blue sweatshirt. Since we were shooting just a few feet from our RV we had Ruko Blu pop in for a few full family photos at the end.
