The month of Love is upon us! For the past several years February has been one of our most celebrated months of the year. Besides Valentine’s Day and Galentine’s Day we also celebrate “Us” Day, my birthday, Kade’s birthday and about fifteen other family member’s birthdays.
Typically Valentine’s Day is about two people in love. But there are no rules to how you celebrate it. If you have a significant other and want to paint the town red with all the hearts and roses, DO IT! If your significant other is low-key and a night in is more their style, embrace it. Plan a night with a special dinner, dessert and a movie. Maybe you don’t have a significant other and you want to celebrate with the people you love. GO FOR IT! It is a day of LOVE… love for your friends, your family, and yourSELF!
US DAY
Spencer and I have never celebrated the typical Valentine’s Day and I don’t think we ever will. Ironically, due to our travel schedules at the time, Valentine’s Day 2010 was the first day Spencer and I spent time together. That year, Valentine’s Day happened to fall on a Sunday and we both had off on Monday for President’s Day. So we agreed that we would ignore the awkward fact that the first time we were spending time together was on the most designated LOVE day of the year. The day was magical, filled with laughter, incredible dinner cooked by Spencer, getting to know each other by a fire and even our first kiss. Something special happened that day and we have been together ever since. So instead of celebrating Valentine’s Day, we celebrate US Day! Each year no matter what we take off and replicate that magical day.
Valentine’s Day
While Spencer and I celebrate US Day, we will do a little something special for Kade. Heck, I’ll take any excuse to love on our little one! Trying to be conscious of not spoiling him I popped into the Dollar Tree and picked him up a few items. A children’s book of bible stories, shape and color flashcards, 3 small toy cars and a little balloon.
Galentines Day
In recent years Galentine’s Day has too become a popular event where girlfriends get together to celebrate the love of their sisterhood. Guess we are still waiting on someone to create a special day for all the Bros to hang out. Sorry fellas. Last year was the first year I went all out about Galentine’s Day. I collaborated with a bunch of local businesses to create a Galentine’s Day shoot. A few of my friends and I attended a public Galentine’s Day event and it was SO much fun! This year I will be joining my girl friends and heading out to Discover Charm Cities Galentine Gal Pal party!
Hopefully you have been inspired to celebrate Valentine’s Day and Galentine’s Day in a way that works best for you! If you’re heading out on the town with your girls or guys you are going to want to look your best! Check out these Girl Glam looks perfect for this years’ month of love!
