The Art of Motherhood

I recently attended The Art of Motherhood event co-hosted/created by Giulietta {Limonata Creative} and April {April Davidson Photography}. These two ladies invited local Moms and Moms-to-Be to The Accelerator for a fun evening of Sips, Snacks, and Creative Ideas to celebrate all things beautiful about Motherhood. First, I must mention the event space they selected was gorgeous! It was an open canvas with beautiful wood floors, industrial hanging lights, white walls and large windows out lining the space which allowed for plenty of natural light.

Giulietta and April partnered with several local vendors to bring the room to life with beautiful Mommy and Me/Mommy-to-Be stations perfect for interacting! The first station I noticed was the Sprinkle station because of the gorgeous candy bar! The term sprinkle has become very popular in the past few years and is known as a intimate baby shower for a mother who already has a child/children. Sprinkles are typically hosted by friends or family when the mother is expecting another gender from her current child/children or if it has been several {more than 3+ years} from the last time she gave birth. As I now know all to well…. CHILDREN ARE EXPENSIVE and need so much! Sprinkles are of course a fun way to celebrate Mom and baby but it also helps the Mom/Family with some of those much needed items…. as their friends and family “sprinkle” the Mom-to-Be with baby gifts.

The Art of Motherhood Sprinkle station was beautifully decorated with several decor elements and colors. Right at the center of the station was a colorful playful candy bar from Truly Scrumptious Designs and beautiful Oh Baby! cake from Whipped Cakes and Confections… oh how I love a good candy bar!!! I kind of forgot how much I love them and how fun they can be… especially when they have some of those rare or childhood candies like the dot strips you see here.

The next station we enjoyed viewing was a relaxing botanical milk bath for Mom and Baby. Milk baths are not only beautiful for maternity or newborn photo sessions they are also very calming and moisturizing for your skin. The expecting Momma-to-Be model is completely relaxed as she basques in the romantic evening glow, wrapped in a stunning Lea Maria Couture gown surrounded by sweet smelling florals from Washday Floral. At 40 weeks pregnant I took a milk bath during my maternity photos and wish I had the herbal bath soap from Euphoric Herbals and Becca and Mars bath scrub. Good news is that I do not need a photo session as an excuse to take another milk bath and indulge in a little me time. It might just be the perfect way to start my very first Mother’s Day Weekend.

The mock Baby Shower at the Art of Motherhood was absolutely STUNNING! All the details seamlessly complimented each other from the Susan Wilson invitations with custom calligraphy {Poppy & Mint Design} and stamps {Magnolia Postage} to the Washday Floral centerpieces with surprise fruit accents and matching fruit topped, caramel drizzled cake from Whipped Cakes and Confections. The expecting Momma-to-Be looked radiant in her shear gown from Mama Bump Rentals and Vintage Veils flower crown.

Kade’s favorite spot of the entire evening was the bedroom/nursing station. I did not hesitate at the opportunity to capture a few photos of us together. I grabbed Kade, kicked off my shoes and jumped on to the beautiful bed from Su Casa. We played for a little bit before I started snapping away and then Erin from Pump the Bump offered to borrow my camera and take a few of us. They turned out so cute!!! I just love the way the bed was decorated with a soft white duvet and subtle bohemian pillows both from Anthropologie. Oh and the carpet…. LOVE!!!! {Has me thinking I might want to redo my summer bedroom linens}
