STRIPES ARE ALWAYS IN STYLE
WHAT TO CONSIDER WHEN WEARING STRIPES
Stripes seem to have a bad reputation for being difficult to wear. And, for good reason, there is a slew of contradictory information on which stripes are best for particular body types. While there are no hard and fast rules a good rule of thumb is that the thicker and brighter the stripe the more it will stand out and accentuate the body area it is covering. While thinner and light colored stripes tend to have a classic and minimizing esthetic. When choosing a garment with stripes you will want to consider three things: stripe direction, stripe thickness and the garments silhouette.

Below you will see two styled examples of striped dresses. The first is a classic J.Crew maxi silhouette (similar style) with a combination of diagonal and vertical stripes. This maxi dress is a fun summer staple especially with the bright blue bold stripes! Style Tip: When styling a dress with a lot of standout stripes I typically suggest using minimal accessories to pull your look together.
The second dress is the Trina Turk Nantucket Dress. (currently available) This boxy shift silhouette is adorned with a combination of thick and thinner horizontal stripes. Style Tip: Elevate your look with a little pop of color! Two of my favorite color combinations are blue/yellow and blue/bright pink.
