Stripes In The City

Life has been hectic since returning to work a month ago so I am a bit later than I expected in sharing this look with you! I purchased this dress in April when I was shopping for something to wear to the Preakness.  I had my heart set on a particular dress (sharing that look soon) but I was afraid it wouldn’t arrive in time. (It was coming from Hong Kong) Originally this Ted Baker dress was my backup option for Maryland’s Running of the Preakness Stakes but my first choice dress arrived AND I decided to keep this dress too!  Do I need another dress?  Well… no but that never stops me and I needed this dress in my life. Not for the normal reasons of adding one to my collection but because of the way it makes me feel. Wearing this dress I feel beautiful and sexy!! Both of which are difficult but much needed after having a baby!

While I loved the look of the dress I was cautious to actually try it on.  In my mind I was thinking… I just had a baby three months ago maybe I should wait to try on a form fitted dress. On top of that Nordstrom only had a size 4 … ekk! I knew I was not in size 4 shape but for some reason I was still drawn to try it on. Sure enough I couldn’t zip the zipper to the top…. why???? Oh because my Mom boobs are still quite large. I was a tinge discouraged but I knew from the start I was going to fit the size 6.  Aside from not being able to zip it all the way…I was pleasantly surprised that it fit like a beautiful, shiny luxurious glove. The material while soft and stretchy is considerably thick…thick enough to hold in and pull up some of the softer areas. Maybe I loved it because I had in my mind that it wasn’t going to look good or that I only had to size up once from my normal size.  Either way, I not only feel pretty in this dress…I feel sexy! {And honestly this is the first time since having Kade I have felt that way.} This dress hides what needs to be hidden and accentuates all the right curves.  Sure, I get emotionally attached to some of my clothing but what really gets to me is how my attitude is emotionally driven by how I look and feel in my clothes. In this dress I feel like a GIRL BOSS all day long… I feel like me again. Business meetings, lunch dates, dinner or meeting my husband for an evening happy hour this is the dress to impress.
