Gingham Outfits Style for Summer

GIRL GONE GINGHAM

Raise your hand if you are a girl who loves gingham? If you are not familiar with gingham no problem! I would bet you are more familiar than you think you are. Gingham is a timeless checked pattern typically with white and another color. Most likely you have seen it before, if not worn gingham in the past. Gingham is a print or a pattern that can be applied to anything! Dress, shirts, shorts, pants, skirts, shoes, handbags, jewelry, scarves, hats and more! Typically gingham apparel pieces are usually found on cotton or linen fabrics making them extremely sought out for the summer heat. But one might ask how do you style summer gingham?

Investing in gingham pieces are 99.9% a good idea because wearing gingham is always in style. The pattern is classic and always on trend so it can easily be worn year after year.

The other week I was discussing gingham with a style client and she wasn’t exactly sure what I was referring to… so I sent her a few examples. It was an AHHH- HA moment for both of us. For her she was now able to associate a name with a pattern she has seen several times. And for me… not to assume everyone is familiar with the term gingham.

STYLE FILES

Now that we have an understanding of what gingham is, let’s dive into how to style summer gingham. In this week’s STYLE FILES I have styled a variety of gingham looks for you. The first look highlights a fun maxi dress (available here) adorned with pompoms. Here the pattern and colors pop themselves. Adding tonal color pops will keep this look fun and flirty through the summer. A few of the other looks have a bright solid pop of color be it yellow or capri blue. Your goal should be to balance the gingham print with a pop color, solids, or minimal accessories.
