Hard to believe Mother’s Day is just a few short days away! I always look forward to celebrating Mother’s Day with my amazing Momma and this year is now extra special because I am a Mom too!!! We are hoping for good weather and plan to picnic at Fort McHenry {right on the edge of Baltimore} but if it rains I am all set and ready to host brunch. When I entertain I like to create mini themes and I’m all the about presentation! You would be surprised how easy it can be to pull together a gorgeous budget friendly tablescape. Of course you could walk into any Pottery Barn and buy their entire display but what is the fun in that? {Actually, who am I kidding that would be SOOOOO much fun!} But, alas I am on a budget and a time crunch so I used a variety of items I already had around the house and added a few new ones from Home Goods and the Dollar Tree.
Here are some of my quick and easy tips for decorating!
1_ Tablecloths: If you have a beautiful table you may not want to cover it up but if your table is well loved consider starting with a table cloth. You can find a large variety of table cloths at your local Home Goods or TJMaxx ranging in price from $9.99 to $39.99
2_ Linen Napkins: I LOVE linen napkins. I use them all the time and have a pretty solid collection of staple colors. Adding linens and napkin rings will immediately elevate your table presentation.
3_Centerpieces: Your table should definitely include a centerpiece… the go-to is usually flowers but think outside the box too. Depending on seasonality your centerpiece could be as simple as a bowl filled with pinecones or fruit. You might even want considering displaying desserts or appetizers in the center of your table.
4_ Dimension: When you think about setting your table consider adding visually pleasing dimensions. There are so many ways in which this can be accomplished. A few examples are layers of plates/bowls, chargers below your plates {chargers can be purchased at the Dollar Tree, Michaels and AC Moore}, set your table with tall and short drinkware, elevated centerpieces or even your food display.
If you are hosting an event soon give one or two of these a try… don’t feel like you need to tackle them all to create a beautiful tablescape! Feel free to shoot me an email {shoptinistyle@gmail.com} or tag me {@shoptini} in your photos… I would love to see what you create!
Wishing you the best Mother’s Day!
