Spring Two Piece Sets

I recently partnered with Punch! to share my thoughts on a few upcoming spring trends. {You can check out our collab here Which now has me wishing I wake up to Spring weather any day now! So, I thought I would take a minute and elaborate on one of the most fun, yet intimidating, trends…. Two piece sets!

Personally, I’m like gimme, gimme, gimme, gimme all the sets you’ve got! I LOVE sets and have ever since I was a little girl! It’s interesting how I remember events based on what I was wearing. I remember being about kindergarten age and wearing a lavender sweater skirt set. I was completely obsessed with it and would have worn it every day if my Mom would have allowed it. The next one I remember was this white short sleeve crop dress shirt that tied under the chest with matching white mini skirt with lady bugs all over it. I think I was in middle school at the time and fell in love with this outfit. So much so that I had bought it with my own money. I came home that night so excited to show my parents, only to have my Dad freak out about the over exposed midriff and mini skirt. He even made me return it… clearly I am still not over this incident…. LOL.  And then, there was my high school graduation party outfit…a beautiful pink plaid mini skirt/crop top set… that I loved so much and practically wore it every week that summer.

The reason why I think I love sets so much is because I completely enjoy matchy matchy looks! There are so many different varieties of two piece sets which make giving them a try a little less intimidating. I believe some have an aversion to sets because of the potential to show a little, or a lot, of skin. While this can certainly be a concern there are plenty of different types of sets available that minimize exposing a lot of skin or areas where one may feel a bit uncomfortable showing. When looking to add sets to my collection I find myself gravitating toward the skirt/top variety. Long skirts, short skirts, fitted or loose I love them all!

If you’re looking to take a little risk and try a set look, I suggest finding one close to your current “comfort zone”. If you typically wear looser clothing then try a set with a flowy pant/top combo or long maxi/top look. If you would like to cover your stomach area you could find a short/tunic top set.  There are a lot of options available for set wearing. Another thing I love about sets is that you actually don’t have to always wear them as a set! When you buy a set you are potentially purchasing three looks!!!! If you’re able to find items in your current wardrobe to compliment the set then you can coordinate a separate look for both the top and bottom while of course being able wear the set as you bought it. See, three looks there!

Here are a few different set styles and some of my favs this season!
