How do you feel about YOURSELF when you have a summer tan?
For me it is a game changer… I instantly feel more confident, like I can leave the house with no makeup and believe it or not thinner!
Needless to say, I LOVE being TAN! I am very well versed in all the ways of achieving that summertime glow throughout the year. Summertime was easy, I would lay out all summer long… on the back deck, poolside, and at the beach. In the non-summer months, I used to take lovely 20-minute warm naps in the tanning beds. However, I finally gave those up after several articles and countless conversations with my Mom about how they are bad for your skin. I then started using a variety of self-tanners and spray tan booths. Until a few months ago, I was pretty much addicted to spray tan booths.

Early this spring I was on my “normal” booth spray tan cycle, tanning every other week and sometimes every week if I had an event or photo shoot coming up. While the spray tan itself is fairly quick, the whole process from parking to leaving is about 30 minutes and when you work nearly two full time jobs and have a little one to pick up from school, it can be pretty hard to juggle into your schedule. Oh, and I am sort of assuming you are familiar with spray tanning, but if not, it is very different from the tanning beds in that you CAN NOT shower, sweat or get wet of any kind for 6-8 hours after you spray. Something extra important to consider when scheduling your spray tan.
I was doing my best to squeeze them in when I could because I generally feel better about myself and like how I look in photos when I have a nice glow going on. Not to mention it’s Summer! With my chaotic schedule I knew I was not going to have time to lay out much to get even a base tan. So I was going to have to rely on other options.

Insert Rachel from Two Bronzed Babes! Rachael reached out to me about her mobile tanning business a few months back. I was intrigued… years of spray tanning and I had only ever sprayed in a booth. Never by an actual person! Rachael explained her services and that she is MOBILE!!! Meaning she comes to you… “Hallelujah!”
She seemed so sweet and had an answer to my scheduling problem and her prices were right around what you would pay for a booth spray tan. So naturally, I was all in to give it a try! Rachael came to my home with her tanning gear and we sprayed in my bathroom. We hit it off right away and I was right! She is the sweetest! The tan was great and what I love is that depending on my event she can create a color just for me by adjusting the light/dark levels. All the times you have seen me tan this summer are all thanks to Rachael!
During one of my sessions, we started talking a little bit more about her business. She is partners with her sister, Beth {equally as sweet} who lives in Annapolis. Rachael covers Baltimore North and Beth covers Baltimore South. They serve a variety of clients… individuals, brides, bridal parties, prom, any special occasion. I had mentioned I should get some of my neighborhood girls to come over for sprays while she was in my area. And Rachael told me they have done several tan parties for groups of girlfriends. I loved the idea and always up for a good party, so decided I wanted to host one!

I invited some of my fav Baltimore blogger babes over for an evening of Tans & ‘Tinis. I worked with Christine from Alpha Graph to create a super cute custom invite for my guests. And then later I realized the date I picked to host the party was a Tuesday evening so I quickly changed our theme to Tans, Tacos, & ‘Tinis! Gotta celebrate #tacotuesday !

Hosting an event of any kind takes planning, time and help! My help came in the form of the one and only Spencer Stevens, a.k.a. my hubs! Not only did he help me clean the house, he moved the furniture {due to the rain we had to have the party inside}, picked up the tacos, made the martinis and custom built a piece of furniture to serve and display all the frozen martinis, tanning lotions, and monogrammed chasers. I truly couldn’t have successfully hosted without him! Check out this table!! I love it… it is exactly what I envisioned… it has a detachable serving bar top for when you have extra items to serve or display! You will definitely be seeing this again at some upcoming events we are hosting.

Rachael and Beth were there with all their tanning spray gear and the cutest little cabana tent. I love this tent and I am trying to find a reason for why I might need one…hmmmmm??? We all had a blast and didn’t stop laughing all night long! It was kind of like an old school girl’s sleepover without the actual sleepover part. {side note… we were finally able to capture a few outside photos after the hours of rain finally let up}

What’s better than attending a party??? Ummm… attending a party where you get gifts of course! When the girls arrived, they were given makeovers from Victoria and Debbe, received a matching robe from Pink Blush, and custom monogramed Chaser and Chastertini cups from Orca Coolers. Meg from Maewood Photography was there to capture all the fun. We had make your own tacos from my favorite local spot Taco Love Grill! They outdid themselves by making us pink tacos!!! They matched our theme perfectly! Once I knew the weather was going to be too terrible to host outside, I reached out to Kirby Jay for some gorgeous floral backdrops. She is SOOO incredibly talented… these paper flowers are all hand made by Kirby!

I was truly honored to host such an amazing and extremely talented group of girls for Tans, Tacos & ‘Tinis! I highly recommend carving out time for you and your gal pals to have some fun!
Channel you inner sleepover kid… eat munchies, watch movies, play games, chat, laugh, enjoy each other company and possible a spray tan too!
