Despite the weather it was truly an AMAZING day at the races. Certainly one of the most memorable for me! I typically plan for the Baltimore Preakness months in advance and this year all my planning came together!!! While walking around the vendor village “Fashion at the Races” selected my friend Tiffany and I to enter the Longines Most Elegant Woman of the Preakness Fashion Contest!!! Its always fun to walk around and see all the beautiful and creative outfits the ladies put together. Preakness fashion is where you can be bold and confidently show your personal style. This year I was looking for flirty, feminine and fun; when I came across this Magnolia Two Piece I knew it was the one! Originally the hem was below the knee, but I chose to have the skirt shortened to bring the hem to 2 inches above my knee…giving it a little extra flirty flare. I worked with Nicole from Finchy Baby and I use the word “work” loosely…I sent her pictures of my dress and a few small criteria: that I would like a fascinator, feminine style, big, and soft pink with pop color accents. I trusted Nicole to create something magnificent and she did not disappoint! I added pale pink Ted Baker Bow Heels and a Rebecca Minkoff clutch to pull the look all together.
It happened to be raining at the time of the Longines Most Elegant Woman contest but that did not stop all the fashionistas! In total I believe around 35 beautiful women took the stage… there were so many fantastic outfits and varieties of head wear. The contest was pretty straight forward… we walked up on stage in groups of eight, did a little twirl, and at the end, the 4 judges brought back the top 10 ladies…both Tiffany and I made it to the final round! Then they announced the winner, #72…it was my number!!! I was smiling from ear to ear with excitement and surprise! Surprised more so that I had not anticipated entering a fashion contest at Preakness, let alone winning! I am truly honored and humbled to receive the 2016 Longines Most Elegant Women of the Preakness.
