Tomorrow we fly to Boston and I’m really hoping I packed everything we need for the weekend! We are by no means seasoned travelers with Kade… although he has been on one flight before. When Kade was five months old my Mom and I took him to visit my sister in Boston and we are heading there again for Easter. Our first trip was easy with Kade but now he is so active…walking… practically running, talking, touching everything and exploring. I’m not so concerned about the airport but on the plane… you know you don’t want to be “those parents” with the crying/screaming baby. So… I know I need to have some items to entertain but also soothe in case he is upset or his ears hurt. Thankfully we were thoughtful to choose flying in the evening in hopes that Kade will sleep during our hour and a half flight.
What’s on my mind today is getting to the airport with all our gear {not forgetting or losing anything, which I seem to be notorious for} and getting through security with a bottle of milk! Here is a list of my top 10 must have items when traveling with a baby… hopefully this is helpful if you have some upcoming travels with your little ones!

Boston here we come!

why I like it: bright color so its easy to find, thick material to protect your car seat and survive all the airport wear and tear, and it has straps to wear it as a backpack
After years of traveling for myself I know the airport handling of items isn’t always ideal… so I try to prevent as many mishaps as possible. We will take Kade’s stroller all the way to the gate where they then put it on the plane. We use this red {easy to identify} stroller cover to protect our stroller from damages.
Naturally if we bring a stroller cover we are going to bring a stroller. This Summer Infant stroller is my go-to on the run stroller. I typically always have it in my car. It’s slender so it doesn’t take up much room, easy to setup and pretty small for getting around tight places like stores. And I like the price!
My hubby surprised Kade with this toy the other weekend after seeing it at our friends house. I had no idea at the time how perfect it would be for our trip. Kade loves toys that make lots of sounds but I’m pretty sure the other folks on the plane wouldn’t appreciate the noise. I need to pack entertaining but quiet toys and this is perfect! Bonus… it has a suction cup end which I am hoping will work on the airplane window.
Kade seems to have out grown his soothie needs during the day but still likes them at night for bedtime. I think these will also help Kade on the plane if his ears start to bother him. I prefer the animal soothies so Kade/we can easily find or grab them!
My sister already picked up a bunch of food for Kaderoo but we need to make sure we are prepared for anything.. especially layovers. We will travel with milk and a bunch of dry snacks/pouches. Kade’s favorite snack are these maple syrup puffs… we like them because he always smells like pancakes after eating them.
I rave about this chair all the time and for good reason! It is amazing and has become my future baby shower gift to give. Along with the stroller this chair is always in my car… we use this chair at our friends/families home, out in restaurants, outdoor events… anywhere Kade needs to eat or just sit safely.
Not the Yeti you are thinking of but I will be bringing one of those too! Kade still doesn’t have a lot of hair and Boston will surely be cold… we will be prepared with jackets, blankets and his yeti hat!
For traveling especially I prefer to use my backpack diaper bag… it sits comfortably on my shoulders allowing for use of both arms/hands and its stylish!
We took the precautionary measures to secure photo identification for our little guy. There are a variety of services out there to choose from… we used Ident-A-Kid. Whether its something like this, a passport or other means of identification… I highly recommend traveling with photo id and pertinent information for your little ones in case of emergency.
Wishing you and your family safe travels this upcoming weekend! And, if you try any of these items please send me an email!! I would love to hear what you used and how it worked for you!
