We’ve Been Keeping a Secret

It’s been awhile since I’ve updated you with a personal blog post and since we’ve been keeping a secret I thought it was time. Hopefully by now you know my family has been traveling the United States by RV for the past year and a half. Which has been an incredible and challenging experience. We’ve been to 25 states, created new businesses, seen some of the most amazing sights and even host a cooking show with Blackstone Griddles. We truly believe all this has been possible because we opened our hearts to our faith and continued to focus our determination on putting our family first.

Throughout our travels we document our adventures in a variety of ways. Mostly through social media for ourselves and other brands but my absolute favorite is teaming up with local photographers to forever capture our families growth. One day when we settle down a bit we will have an epic photo wall to share. Till then we keep collecting documented memories and refreshing a few photos within our RV.

BACK IN THE MOUNTAINS

Our most recent family photo session took place in the Sandia Mountains of Albuquerque with Liz from Weckmann Photography. To say we were excited to be back in the mountains is a huge understatement. After about six months on the east coast we couldn’t wait to get some mountain miles on our feet and breathe fresh mountain air. On a whim we decided to head to the Sandia Mountains for some light hiking and ended up coming back multiple times for a few more hikes.

On our third time hiking the area when we decided to tackle a relatively difficult trail. It was a constant incline up the mountain side and we were hoping to make it to the peak but decided to turn back after 3 miles in. On our way back down the mountain we happened to stop for a snack break and Kade found a piece of paper laid against some rocks. Upon giving the paper a closer look he realized it was a letter and the letter was addressed to him!

KADE’S SPECIAL LETTER

This letter was like no other letter we had ever seen, it was crisp yet looked vintage and was embossed with gold foil letters. Kade couldn’t believe it was for him and immediately wanted to know what it said! So we all snuggled up on some boulders and read Kade his letter. Turns out it was a letter from God and Jesus letting him know how proud they are of him. And that his kindness, love, and adventurous spirit was a joy to watch from above. It also mentioned that he was ready for the special gift and responsibility of becoming a BIG BROTHER!

That’s right! Kade is going to be a big brother and WE’RE PREGNANT! Kade was ecstatic and jumping up and down so excited! His mind started racing and his plans for the baby began! We still had about a mile hike back to the Jeep and he never stopped smiling from ear to ear!

The Sandia Mountains are such a beautiful place that now hold so much meaning to us that we decided to take our baby announcement photos there. We met Liz from Weckmann Photography one evening just before sunset and had the best time documenting our good news!

YES! WE’RE HAVING A BABY!

AHHHH! I can’t believe we’ve been keeping a secret this long! There is so much to share but the highlights are we are due in September and found out in January. I had an appointment in Texas at a very lovely christian clinic and have been back to Maryland twice for doctors appointments. Everything is looking great and we plan to be back in the Maryland area toward the end of August. Our current plan is to spend a few months there and then head back out on the road! We don’t have a solid plan beyond that and still have so much to figure out but I’ll share along the way as our next chapters unfold.

Now back to these beautiful photos from Liz! We had two different but similar styles for our baby announcement family photo session. I kept our style comfortable as that is what Kade and Spencer prefer. I’ll save the glam for our maternity photos. Kade calls Spencer bro from time to time so we thought the Big Bro tee was cute and appropriate for him. From there I styled a Madison Mathews maxi dress I already owned and a button up Spencer already had as well. We did order a cute pair of little hiking boots and made a sign on our letter board.

For the second look I did order a beautiful white maxi dress, Oh Baby blocks letters and vintage script Big Brother shirt for Kade. Luckily Spencer had the perfect button already and it all styled so well together. For accessories I added Dean Davidson jewelry and an Orijinal hat. We included Kade’s letter from God and Jesus skillfully crafted by Lauren from Lucy Lake and had a cute pair of bear slippers for Kade to hold.

We feel extremely blessed and grateful for the gift of growing our family. Thank you for being a part of our extended family and sharing in the joy of our good news. Up next… Yes, we are going to find out if Kade is having a brother or a sister. Any guesses?!?!
